Visiting Teaching
In September you will be contacted by either myself, Lee or Brittney to go over your visiting teaching. We appreciate this time with you to discuss your concerns and to get to know those sisters that you visit better. Your service as a visiting teaching is vital and Sister Julie B. Beck said "A sister in this Church has no other responsibility outside of her family that has the potential to do as much good as visiting teaching."
Tips for Visiting Teaching:
- Prayerfully prepare for your visit with your sisters. Ideas will come. You will know what to say or do.
- When appropriate, share a gospel message, especially with less-active sisters. The gospel message you provide may be the only one that sister receives. Use the monthly visiting teaching message printed in the Ensign and Liahona magazines or the scriptures, whatever best fits your sisters’ needs.
- Be aware of the spiritual and temporal needs of your sisters. Sometimes the most important message you can share is to do something to lift their burdens.
The “relief” we offer includes “relief of doubt, relief of ignorance—relief of all that hinders the joy and progress of woman” (John A. Widtsoe, Evidences and Reconciliations, arr. G. Homer Durham, 3 vols in 1 [1960], 308).
