Beacause I Have Been Given Much, I, Too, Must Give

This is a great time of year to think about all we have been blessed with and to be reminded about those less fortunate than we are. I am including some links the Church's Provident Living site and the current needs of the Humanitarian Services of the Church. Also, I have included a link to the Humanitarian Service Project Guidelines. Doing a family service project would be a great way to invite the Spirit of Giving into your home this holiday season.

Our community also has needs. The Dutchess Outreach operates the Lunch Box, Food Pantry and the Children's Closet. They also need help with office skills and IT system skills.

The Grace Smith House in Poughkeepsie has a wish list. Click here if you would like to help.

The Luthern Care Center on Rt. 44 is always looking for volunteers. They especially need help during the holidays with wrapping of gifts for their residents or even to go and visit residents who might not otherwise have visitors. If you would like to help, you can email cbrazil@wartburg.org

The Prophet Joseph Smith taught that "A true Latter-day Saint is to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to provide for the widow, to dry up the tear of the orphan, to comfort the afflicted, whether in this Church or in any other or in no church at all, wherever he finds them." (Times and Season, 15 Mar 1842, 732)

If you know of other volunteer opportunities or ways to serve in our area, please email me at shetting@msn.com and I will post them here on our blog.
